Everyone has their own unique process for volunteering, adopting, fostering, etc. 

Adoption: Local Rescue Adoptable Pets can generally be found in bulk on Adoptapet.com as well as Petfinder.com 

Surrender Inquiries: If you are reaching out to rescues in the hopes of surrendering an animal: It helps to include PHOTOS and as much information as possible about the animal. Please be understanding with rescues as we all do as much as we can.  If you are desperate, the local parish open-intake shelters will be listed below as well.  Rehome tool is also on our site under Information tab. Strays should be scanned for microchips as well as have a stray hold period.

  Critter/ Wildlife Animal Rescues:   

  • WERLA Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation of Louisiana (www.werla.net)  For sick, injured, or orphaned wildlife. You can leave voicemail and wait for volunteer to return call 318-405-2282. 
  • Steve's Snaketuary (www.snaketuary.com)  
  • Magic Happens Rabbit Rescue in Baton Rouge (www.magichappensrescue.com)   Helps  Guinea pigs, rabbits, and other small critters.   

These organizations are an aid for shelters.  They generally involve networking/ promoting of shelter animals in need. 

Parish Paws (Facebook or www.parishpaws.org) Helps save animals and often transport them to northern rescues but will adopt out locally too. Large aid for Caddo Parish Animal Services.  

Companions of CPAS (Facebook) Helps network Caddo Parish Animal Services pets in need of rescue/adoption. 

Paws 4 Life (Facebook or paws4lifecaddo@gmail.com) Helps transport animals to northern rescues. 

Hand in Paw-Friends of Bossier City Animal Control (https://handinpawfriendsofbossiercityanimalcontrol.org)  Helps promote the care and adoption of animals at Bossier City Animal Shelter.  

BUDDIES of Bossier City Animal Control (Facebook) Helps network Bossier city animal control pets in need of  rescue/adoption.

Local open intake shelters: These are parish services. Animals are at risk of euthanasia for space.

Rehome Tool:  

There is a Rehome Tool on our website that helps people list personal pets for adoption online via adopapet. Go to the "Information Tab" and then "Rehome Tool Info" tab. The Pet Pantry of Northwest Louisiana, Inc (www.nwlapetpantry.org) Pet food bank for low income families of Northwest, Louisiana. 

Krewe of Barkus and Meoux (www.barkusandmeoux.org)  Aids rescues/public emergency pet aid . Also a yearly pet friendly Mardi Gras parade event, fun for the whole family. 

Robinsons Rescue - low cost spay neuter clinic in Shreveport (www.robinsonsrescue.org)
