My full bio can be found at www.rockersrescue.org History: Intake Date into rescue 1/29/22. Jaxon came from a hoarding situation of around 20 dogs in West Monroe area. The owner had passed away and a group was networking the animals. The home had many dogs per rooms living together. A van loaded them all up after sadly cornering them to catch them. The van took the dogs to our area for local rescues to help as many as they could. We saw Jaxon and our hearts sank. He was huddled in a kennel with another doggy and he looked so sad with his missing fur. The very next day, Jaxon would present with parvo after we noticed something was wrong and took him to the ER vet. Jaxon thankfully overcame his parvo after a long battle. Other dogs from the home eventually broke as well and were not as fortunate. Our hearts go out to the babies from his former home that lost their lives. While at the vet fighting parvo, this scared little boy began wagging his tail at the techs as they came to tend to him. Personality: Jaxon has been in a blossoming stage. When we got him, we had a very timid boy that did not understand love. He was scared of a lot of things, including grass! Sadly, even grass was a new experience for him. He has happily overcame that fear and now enjoys getting to go outdoors in a fenced yard. He will even use a doggy door to go frolic and play. He loves attention! He LOVES to play with toys and even tries to play with the other doggys in his foster home. He likes to sleep in bed with the humans! Belly up for rubs and likes to cuddle in laps. He's still a little jumpy in new situations, so a future owner would have to completely understand that and take his past into consideration. He is young and learning everything brand new but he has truly come so far already in our time with him. Also- he loves to give kisses! Now, he is a vocal boy and will let you know when he wants something. A big personality with the voice to match! He loves eating his yummy dog food and getting treats! Chew sticks are the bomb! Jaxon is a bit shy with new people. It may take him a bit of time to bond with you but once he does you are both golden! We would say he's been pretty hyper lately! A puppy on the go! As far as house training goes, Jaxon will use a potty pad in the home. He's being encouraged to go outside more and he is learning from the other dogs in the home. His future home will need to teach him a schedule and continue working with him for us to hit the ultimate fully house trained goal. Jaxon's fur is still growing in from when he came to us. Fleas and malnutrition caused him to be practically bald on his lower half. He's already gotten a good bit of fur working on coming back in. Needs: We know Jaxon would thrive with a fenced back yard. A patient and loving home that is okay with his vocal side, puppy side, and continuing his potty training so that he goes outside more often than using the puppy pads. Owner needs to remember his past and that some new things can be scary! He is a learning pup. Jaxon is allowed to free roam in the home when nobody is there because he is a good boy. We think a home without younger children would best benefit him, as young children can be unpredictable and this boy needs assurance and balance in his life. He may prefer a home with other small dogs. He has been trying to play with his foster friends. Vetting: Overall vet check. Overcame parvo. Neuter scheduled soon, fully vaccinated with yearly vaccines, heartworm negative and on monthly heartworm prevention. On 3 month flea tick prevention (Heartguard and Bravecto) Fecal done and all was good. Hair growing back in from lack of care in past. Bloodwork looked good.
