Our Rockers Rescue pets are currently in foster homes that help us save lives. When you choose to adopt from a rescue, you help open space for us to save another life in need. We are located around Shreveport, Louisiana. Thank you for considering adoption!

Jake: He is an Emotional Support Animal (ESA) in need of a home. We will work to find Jake the right fit. Please note, Jake is NOT a service dog, he is an ESA and there is a big difference. We will start here with saying we think Jake will best aid a home with no children. He was accustomed to a senior environment. Fenced yard needed. Jake is NOT a perfect dog, there is no such thing. He seeks a bond with his human.  More information to follow.  Vet history will be required.

History      :     Jake had a life with a senior lady whom became unable to care for him any longer. He is now in foster and is under our care to help find him the right home. His former mother told us of her wishes to find him a family and said how he is a good boy.

About Jake:  Jake picks up on emotional tension and helps bring you back to earth and calm you (he grounds you.)    He needs a home with no younger children. When they are loud or rambunctious it can upset him.  He is use to being with a senior and is ready to be needed by an adult. He will likely follow you from room to room, wanting to be wherever you are. Sleep next to you, lay next to you. He can even bark to demand your attention. He wants that bond. His adopter will have to be prepared for that, Jake was use to sitting around with his senior owner all day every day for years. Right now everything is new for him, new sights, people, homes, everything. He may have some energy as he explores these new things. They are exciting to him. His new home must be able to handle this energy, plus any barking (he has schnauzer in him with that poodle), and his wanting to be with you. His whole world has been changed and he is trying to figure it out.  He also knows how to kennel, but he can be reluctant to go in, as for years no kennel was used. He lived in a home with multiple cats, but is also good with dogs.

Will require regular grooming. He is currently in a shaved down style. Grooming expense and time should be considered before adopting a pet. Cat friendly, dog friendly. Loads and unloads from vehicle. Crate trained (reluctantly lately). Also trained with "belly bands." He is potty trained but about once a week at his current foster home he will have a little marking incident in the belly band. He will come with a few belly bands when adopted. Leash trained. Does not dig. Needs to be supervised and not left out alone though for his safety. Must stay on leash or in fenced area, he is like all other dogs and will wander off if not kept properly safe as a dog should be.  Sweet, loveable, well behaved.

Indoors he is generally in an "on duty" laying around type mode, outdoors he goes into a more hyper mode to release his energy. Right now with all the new sights and homes he has packed energy in the home as well.  Due to that activity level when outdoors we believe he would be best suited with someone with a fenced in yard.  He also can be a "talker" and knows how to talk back.

Jake is searching to have that connection with someone again. We will have to find the right fit for him. Plus, just as much as Jake helps a person, he is a responsibility to that person too. Like all dogs, he will need time, love, and care. He will need regular grooming, monthly heartworm prevention, etc. He cannot just fix problems, he is a support aid and it is a two way street that he has your love and attention in return. Matter of fact, he will demand it.

     Vetting and details:

Jake is a schnoodle (Schnauzer Poodle mix) 35lbs.   His former owner estimated him around 10 years old but she was unsure. A vet looked at his teeth and estimated him closer to 7-8yrs. He has a shorter legged, but sturdy build to him.

Jake is up to date on yearly vaccinations and rabies vaccine. Neutered. He had a negative heartworm test and is on monthly heartworm prevention. Fecal test was negative. Has a microchip which will be registered.

Info to apply is below. We will not schedule a private meet unless we have a pre- approved application. Having an approved application does not yet mean you are approved to adopt. That just means we can then go further into seeing if it is the right fit.

About Applying to Adopt:      This pup has a $100 adoption donation fee (lifetime microchip fee is included) This fee generally NEVER covers how much we actually spend on the animal. We are a 501c3 non profit so the fee goes back into our volunteer rescue to help us save more lives. We function solely on donations.

Step1:     Email rockersrescue@gmail.com and tell us that you will be filling out an application. This is IMPORTANT as sometimes apps do not go through.     Step 2:     Fill out an app at www.adoptapet.com/rockersrescue/dogadoptionapp/     Please be truthful when filling out your app and include as much information as possible. Thank you for considering adoption!
