Anna

Boxer Mix

History: Anna originally came to Rockers Rescue after being found starving in a ditch in Oklahoma when she was 4-6 weeks old. She was far from any homes and is very lucky to be alive.  She was adopted to a family around 8 weeks old but returned 2 years later through no fault of her own, when they found out they were having a baby.   She is ready for her FOREVER home and we are determined to make this the perfect fit for her!

Breed: We cannot guarantee breed, we have not done the DNA test so this is visual identification only.  We think she is a Boxer mix, likely mix with American Staffordshire Terrier.  With Boxer in her, she is very athletic and active.  She has short hair and low grooming needs. 

Personality:  Anna is young and athletic and her biggest need is regular exercise.  She enjoys going to the dog park and is an excellent running buddy (great pace, runs right in front of you).  She is playful and gets along with other dogs of all sizes, she is even gentle with the smaller dogs.  She is crate trained and knows some basic commands although on initial greeting she can get overexcited and forget her commands.  She is very eager to please, smart, loyal and easily trainable. She does not destroy household items, furniture, shoes, etc. (foam dog beds seem to be the only thing she has destroyed).  She does have a “big dog” bark and can make some intimidating noises when playing with other dogs but they mean nothing.  It’s actually great if you are looking for a canine security guard! She is completely housetrained.  She interacts well with children but can be strong on the leash.  Anna enjoys cuddling on the couch with you and enjoys toys and other dogs. She insists on sleeping in the bed with you, its the coziest place of course. 

Vetting: She has no ongoing medical issues and is currently up to date on vaccinations (next due May 2019), heartworm tested and is negative, on monthly Trifexis for heartworm prevention/flea control, microchipped, and spayed. 

Home Requirements: Due to her activity requirements, she needs a home with a securely fenced yard or an active family willing to talk her on regular, leashed walks.  She is not to be left outside or allowed to free roam. She is fine with children but keep in mind she is strong and not always conscious of her body position so a house with young children might not be best suited for her.  She would do well in a home with another dog to play with.  We believe she would not do well with cats.

About Applying to Adopt:    This pet has a $100 adoption donation fee. This fee generally NEVER covers how much we actually spend on the animal. We are a 501c3 non profit so the fee goes back into our volunteer rescue to help us save more lives. We function solely on donations.
