Rosie (Rosie Posey)
History: We saved Rosie from our local shelter that has to euthanize for space. She had heartworms and was not allowed to go into adoptions so she would've been euthanized if not saved. When we first saw her in her kennel larger dogs were stepping on her and hitting her in the face with their tail. She had only been there for stray hold but already had signs of being sick so we knew she needed to be out quick or she would become very sick fast. Rosie was rescued that day. She was quiet. Happy to be held. Personality: Rosie Posey is a more calm and relaxed type dog. She isn't big into playing. She really just wants a lap to sit on. Rosie doesn't care for people quickly reaching for her face. She will jolt her head away nervously. We would prefer no small children because of that. She wants a calmer environment. She needs a securely fenced yard and to be monitored when outside. We heard her bark a bit at our last event and we all got a chuckle because she is such a quiet girl. She does really good at our events. Not a fan of big dogs coming up on her but she actually did very well at the last event when it happened. I was impressed. She does get along with other dogs though. She is also nosey! Nosey Rosie. She likes to explore all of our stuff at events and check everything out. Its pretty cute! As far as housetraining she has done well. When we first got her she would do a submissive tinkle but that has gotten better. A regular routine will be the best way to ensure great housetraining. Rosie loves to snuggle in the bed too! Doesn't have to be kenneled but does fine in one. Sometimes she will perk up and zoom around the home! (prances haha) This is a quaint little princess seeking a family to treat her like one.
Vetting: Vet exam. Spayed. Microchipped. The microchip fee is included in adoption fee and is a one time lifetime fee so no yearly expense. See below for more details. Up to date on shots. Tested for worms and was negative. Received meds for drainage when leaving shelter. Heartworm tested and was positive(with no symptoms, please read on down below for information on this) we do slow treatment so she has completed her one month of meds and now just needs to continue regular heartworm prevention like every other dog. Currently on proheart for heartworm prevention (shot that lasts 6 months) and Nexguard for flea/tick prevention (lasts 1 month from date given). ~~~~~~ ***** If a dog has heartworms do not let it deter you from adoption. We place our heartworm positive dogs on a month of doxycycline twice a day and heartworm prevention. The doxy kills any baby heartworms and weakens the adults until they die of age. This is gentler on the pet than full blown treatment and is best for our animals going through foster care. The pet just needs to stay on regular prevention afterward. Rosie already finished her month of doxy and now just needs to stay on regular prevention to complete the slow kill method. Rosie has no outward signs of his heartworms. You may speak with your personal vet about the full on treatment if that is preferred and a possibility for the pet. Send any questions on the matter! About Microchip: Microchip fee is included in the adoption donation fee. It is a one time fee so no yearly expenses. We use PetLink! We will register pet on our end then you will check your email and check the registration. You may check, add, and edit as needed. From there you will get reminders to update your information. Easy peasy! Microchips are not trackers. They are a small chip that goes under the skin between the shoulder blades. If a pet is ever found and scanned then the owners information will pop up so long as the pet is properly registered! They help get pets home! Collars with ID tags often fall off or are removed by people with bad intentions. We love and highly suggest microchips to all!) TO APPLY FOR ADOPTION: Rosie has a $150 adoption donation fee. This fee generally never covers the amount we spend on the animals vetting/care expense. It goes as a donation to our 501c3 non profit to help us continue saving lives. We are a volunteer group and function solely on donations. To apply to adopt #1 email rockersrescue@gmail.com to let us know you will be filling out an app. #2 fill out the app at www.adoptapet.com/rockersrescue/dogadoptionapp/ Any questions let us know!
