Please note: Easton has NO EYES. He requires a home that can give him love, attention, and be attentive to his needs.
History: We stumbled upon this boy while volunteering at our local shelter. It is a kill shelter. Our rescue adores seniors and when we saw him.. well, it broke our hearts. He was skinny, had been covered in fleas, and was blind and only had one eye. Easton was found as a stray in Shreveport. Seniors and special needs can not go into adoptions at this shelter. There just isn't enough room. So this boy was deemed "rescue only " and if no rescue would come, he would be euthanized. I gave him a bed that day and he was so content with it. He went and laid on it and seemed so thankful. The next day I got to thinking how he may not receive a bed that day if I didn't go give him one. Then I daunted on the weekend and how he may not get a bed over the weekend either. I started racking my brain. All in all, even though we really didn't have the room.... Easton became a Rockers Rescue baby. His name has meaning. You see, he reminded us of a blind senior maltese we had saved. She had passed away but her name was Diamond. We wanted this boy to have a name purposeful to her...something about gems or stones. We found the name Easton.... it means Island of Stones. Our mission was complete within our hearts. This boy gets to live on in meaning of our precious Diamond. Easton is just as precious and deserving of a good life. He deserves to be loved in his final years. Personality: Easton is very laid back. Great with other animals. We brought him to an event with us and children enjoyed petting him. He is content just to have a comfy place to lay his head. Enjoys being loved on. At an event he started a little bark to let us know he needed outside. He has an old man bark and it is adorable. He's really just an easy going boy that needs a special place to live out his days filled with love. Easton had to have been loved in the past as his one eye had been removed and his teeth and been cleaned and a couple removed. Maybe someone died.. who knows. This boy deserves all the love in the world though. Oh, and he has a cute underbite. Current: Easton was adopted in April. His other eye ended up needing removed. He was recently returned to us because he was unsettled/nervous in his new home and due to job circumstances. He would pace nervously in circles and be scared of sounds. I'm happy to say that Easton is doing much better back in his foster home. He is no longer pacing like he was and sounds don't really affect him any with all the commotion from his foster friends. He's chill and relaxed. He enjoys sun bathing outside for a bit then cuddling on his dog bed indoors. Easton would best benefit from a home with a fenced yard. I'm going to say no young children just because I'd hate for them to spook him but he is fine around children. He will need someone able to pick him up and tend to him as needed. He does well with learning layouts. He will take some time to get use to things and the layout but once he does he should relax even more. Is housetrained if you stay attentive and give him a schedule. Use to bark when he wanted outside, he will likely get back on that routine. May potty if you are gone an extended amount of time but has been doing really well. NO kenneling him. He is a good boy. When his foster is gone she puts one of the wire doggy play pens around his area so he won't roam. That works well for him so we'd like for that to continue for him. He is such a precious boy deserving of his happily ever after. We know someone out there will treasure him as we do and be able to provide for his special needs. Vetting: Easton is neutered. He is up to date on vaccinations and rabies shot. Had a blood panel done and all looked well. Heartworm test which was negative (yay). On proheart for heartworm prevention (shot that prevents heartworms for 6 months) And on Bravecto for flea tick prevention (pill that lasts 3 months). Dewormed when we saved him. Microchipped under the rescue (see below.) Easton's teeth have been cleaned in the past. He also had a couple removed. Treated for sniffles upon intake. His other eye was removed. He also has records from his past home that we will be getting. Everything is still up to date from when we got him. About Microchip: Easton is one of our animals microchipped under the rescue. By having the animals microchipped under us it provides us with a definite option of the animal being safe if found. If the pet ever goes missing you can let us know as well so we may help find them. If we ever are called on the animal being found we will try our best for 2 weeks to get in contact with the owners (as you should also be trying to get in contact with us) and if the owner is not found after 2 weeks the animal is legally ours again via our contract. This is a GREAT safety precaution for loving families. It means you will have an awesome caring team devoted to reuniting you with your baby. We ourselves have found microchipped dogs that have been rehomed and ended up in shelters on a euthanasia list. We take this very seriously as we never want that to happen to any of our animals. We also require first option of taking an animal back if the home does not work out. You can consider us a forever family for the pets adopted from us. Adoption: Must have a vet reference when filling out one of our applications. Monthly h eartworm prevention is very important to us and your pet so adopters need to be financially prepared to cover that expense. If you do not know about heartworms we would love to tell you about them. We all have to learn! Any inquiries on adoption please feel free to message us. All information stated above is the the best of our knowledge for for as long as we have known this pet. Adoption fee of $50 (discounted since he is a senior) (this includes microchipping expense) This fee generally NEVER covers the amount we spend on the animals vetting/care expense. It goes as a donation to our 501c3 non profit to help us continue saving lives. We are a volunteer group and function solely on donations. To apply to adopt #1 email rockersrescue@gmail.com to let us know you will be filling out an app. #2 fill out the app at www.adoptapet.com/rockersrescue/dogadoptionapp/
