Ollie. Available for Adoption. Located around Shreveport, Louisiana. Seeking a special home for this one eyed boy.

  • Ollie is a male short haired chihuahua.
  • Around 8lbs.
  • Age is somewhere 1-3 years.
  • Bonds amazingly with his owners.
  • Small dog friendly.
  • Require older/respectable children if any.
  • Prefer fenced yard.
  • Is kennel trained.

Intake Date: March 25, 2016 from Caddo Parish Animal Services.

This boy joined us on the news once too! We can call him famous now! haha.

Vetting: Enucleation surgery (eye removal). Neuter. Up to date on shots. Fecal test which was negative. Heartworm test which was negative. Treated for kennel cough. Later had an injection to get him over being sick. Microchipped under rescue (see below for details). On monthly heartworm prevention and bravecto (3 month pill) for flea/tick prevention.  Just realized the vets wrote him as around 8 months old last March so he is about 1.5 years now.

History: Ollie was found in a street with an injury to his eye and brought to the local open intake shelter. He was in pain with his eye and was going to be euthanized if a rescue did not save him. We took the little boy from his kennel and out into a play yard. He seemed very nervous but he came and stood on my lap and that's when i knew...he was going to come around and be okay. We rushed him to our vet where we were told Ollie's trauma to his eye was so severe that he would have to have it removed.

Personality: I would say if you are looking for a dog to bond with...Ollie is it. Ollie follows his people around EVERYWHERE. His fosters sent me a video one day and every turn he made...there was Ollie! haha. Ollie will just take a little time to adjust to a new environment. Loves getting in laps to sit and enjoy attention. This little boy will be at your feet and constantly keeping an eye on you (didn't mean to make a pun, but that was funny.) Does good with other small dogs but can be scared of large ones of course.

Emotional State: We don't really list this for every dogs but some dogs are special due to their history. While Ollie is an amazingly sweet little boy he has been through a lot ending up on the streets, in the shelter, and losing his eye. We would like a more calm environment for him. With his first foster he did not get to see new people often and became scared of new people. We got him to a new foster that has events regularly and he has come a long way. He use to nip out of fear..there is no telling what all he has been through. Now he can go to events and even children will pet him. It is really a great thing to see a dog recover from their past. I just wanted potential new owners to know what he has been through as he still may be scared at times or certain situations may remind him of his past. All in all though this is a happy little boy that deeply loves his caretakers. If he had a calmer environment that could give him lots of attention he'd be good to go!

Ollie is a special boy and we are looking for a special family to love him. If you are someone that wants a best friend to greet you every day...Ollie will be your man. As far as potty training he is let out frequently but just as with every dog they must adjust to the new owners schedules.

About Microchip: Our animals are microchipped under the rescue. By having the animals microchipped under us it provides us with a definite option of the animal being safe if found. If the pet ever goes missing you can let us know as well so we may help find them. If we ever are called on the animal being found we will try our best for 2 weeks to get in contact with the owners (as you should also be trying to get in contact with us) and if the owner is not found after 2 weeks the animal is legally ours again via our contract. This is a GREAT safety precaution for loving families. It means you will have an awesome caring team devoted to reuniting you with your baby. We ourselves have found microchipped dogs that have been rehomed and ended up in shelters on a euthanasia list. We take this very seriously as we never want that to happen to any of our animals. We also require first option of taking an animal back if the home does not work out. You can consider us a forever family for the pets adopted from us.

Adoption: Must have a vet reference when filling out one of our applications. Monthly heartworm prevention is very important to us and your pet so adopters need to be financially prepared to cover that expense. If you do not know about heartworms we would love to tell you about them. We all have to learn! Any inquiries on adoption please feel free to message us. All information stated above is the the best of our knowledge for for as long as we have known this pet.

Adoption fee of $100.

First email us to let us know you are filling out an application as sometimes the site glitches and it will not send, rockersrescue@gmail.com then go to the following site to fill out the application. Include as much information as you can...we like to get to know our possible adopters!www.adoptapet.com/rockersrescue/adoptionapp/.
